I recently read a cool article on Lifehacks.org about why people are not successful. I took some of these and reapplied them specifically to those involved in building an online (or offline) business. Here are some reasons why you are NOT as successful as you should be:
Laziness: Successful people work hard… especially at first. The goal here is to consistently do the things necessary to build your business to the point where you can have the time freedom you are seeking… not vice versa.
Entitlement: If you weren’t born into money, you’ve got to work to get what you want. You are NOT entitled to anything in life except the opportunity to do something special with it.
Fear of Failure: You are afraid you might not do something right, or well, or wrong, or poorly… you get the picture. You let your fears stymie you into doing nothing… which is the only sure way to fail.
Negative People: You spend too much time listening to negative people… surround yourself with successful mentors who can tell you from experience how to be successful… not from opinion on why that thing never works.
Wasting Time: You spend hours and hours doing things that don’t make a postivie, profitable influence on your business… like reading countless emails with nothing more than the latest viral jokes going around… or watching two hours of the latest YouTube humor… or watching reruns of M.A.S.H.
Time is your most valuable resource… when it’s gone it cannot be replaced. Don’t waste it.
No Goals: As Ben Franklin quoted years ago, “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” and Winston Churchill paraphrased , “He who fails to plan is planning to fail.”
If you don’t know where you are going you’ll never get there. “Nobody succeeds beyond his or her wildest expectations unless he or she begins with some wild expectations.” – Ralph Charell
Thinking Small: Don’t spend time majoring on the minor. “We can no more afford to spend major time on minor things than we can to spend minor time on major things.” – Jim Rohn No Belief: Deep down inside you don’t really have a belief that you can succeed and that you deserve to succeed, therefore you don’t do the things to ensure your success.

You Won’t Make Changes: Here is perhaps the most important though of this post… Change is good!
Do a SWOT analysis – Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats for your home business regularly. “Unless you change how you are, you will always have what you’ve got.” – Jim Rohn
